Positive aspects:
I was on business, so I had not time to visit the city. I arrived in the afternoon for a meeting in Chorzow early in the evening and left katowice at 4.00 the day after. There's a shuttle bus from the airport to the busstation in the centre. While the shuttle bus just had left the airport, someone told me I could take another bus: a giant motorcoach; so I travelled with this luxurious coach with two other people for 5 Euro till the busstation in the centre of Katowice. The people were very friendly. EXCELLENT!!! 
Negative aspects:
The shuttle bus from the airport to the centre of Katowice has a time schedule of once an hour. When I arrived at the aiport the bus has left the airport a copple of minutes, so I had to wait almost one hour. See above. There are lots of taxis however to tranport you to the city. I don't know what is the situation in the morning. I had a flight from the airport (40 km away from Katowice) at 6.00. I've noticed that there is a shuttle bus running at 4.00. But, if you miss this bus, you have a problem, because the next bus is at 6.00. |

Positive aspects:
Trams and trainstations are many! People in the city are busy cleaning en renovating the buildings! Streets were clean, friendly for walking and crossing the street (polite people) Wonderfull shoppingstreet Warszawaska! modern shoppingstores! Spodek was a fine stadion. (toilets very dirty) Good Pizzeria in warszawaska, nice clean pizzahut nearby Spodek, fine and cosy rusian restaurant in Francuska-street.
Negative aspects:
Very busy traffic from 5 am till 23.00 pm. Much industrie, not clean air. Not a place to visit for a vancation! Overall, dirty.... People tent to spend more time and money to personal hygiëne and outfit than enviorement they live in! Bars are closed at 23.00 pm also during the weekend. There was one eveningshop open. |

Positive aspects:
Proximity of Hotel to the centre of Katowice was helpful. We used the restauarant Tatiana one evening and found the food to be of the highest standard. We used Katowice as a centre for touring the Slaskie Tramway network and it was an excellent centre.
Negative aspects:
The distance between tram stops seemed a lot further than we are used to in the U.K. |
