Kaija from Finland stayed for 1 night(-s)

Positive aspects:
I would certainly return to Bialystok. The Branicki Palace as well as the park (in course of restoration, with some interesting panels on what used to be there before the war) are interesting, and for those keen on Jewish history, the near-by town of Tykocin is a real must.
Negative aspects:
It is largely a destroyed city rebuilt during the Socialist era, with Stalinist-dimensioned streets and Stalinist-Hrushtshev-Brezhnev-type architecture which has been refurbished, just as in the ex-DDR and in the ex-Soviet Union. The good thing about Stalinist architecture is that you don't have difficulties in seeing high buildings such as Hotel Golebiewski! The houses themselves may, however, only be improved on to a certain point, and leave the visitor bitterly regretting what seems to have been pre-war Bialystok.

Susan from United States stayed for 2 night(-s)

Positive aspects:
We visited Bialystock for family history, and were a bit disappointed in how modern the city has become. All historical aspects were distroyed in the war, so there is little to experience. Good place to shop for values. Not many good restaurants. There was one chocolate shop where you can sit and enjoy hot chocolate in many european drinks. Very nice and full of local people.
