In Dec 2007 Poland joined the Schengen agreement which means that there are no longer any border checkpoints between Germany and Poland, Poland and Czech Republic, Poland and Slovakia and Poland Lithuania. This means that if somebody is in Germany then the person can travel to Poland without any checkpoints. Also if somebody is an EU citizen then most likely the person can freely travel and work in Poland without even applying for a passport. Those are all welcome changes after decades of communism.

There are many places to visit in Poland. To the north there is the Baltic Sea Coast which has beautiful white sand beaches, cliffs and sand dunes (Especially in the Slowinski National Park). Anytime of the year is a great time to travel to Poland. In the summer Poland enjoys warm days with temperature of about 24 degrees celsius (mid 70's) but there are many visitors from Europe and all over the world coming to Poland during this time.

Fall and Spring offer beautiful colors of the trees and plants and temperatures are very mild often over 15 degrees celsius (upper 50's to lower 60's). You also get to travel to Poland without the swarms of tourists.

The winter is also a great time to visit especially the mountain regions and cities in Poland. But even strolling on the Baltic Sea Coast beaches can be an enchanting experience. In most parts of Poland the temperature will be around 0 degrees celsius or a little above 0 degrees (upper 20's to upper 30's). But since the humidity is generally low - most visitors will find the temperature to be quite bearable.

Poland is a safe country to visit. The number of severe crimes is lower in Poland than in the US and most of Europe. Poland is a relatively inexpensive country.
